Capital Image. New Technologies and Economies of Photography
“Capital Image. New Technologies and Economies of Photography” is an artistic research project undertaken jointly by photography historian Estelle Blaschke and photographer Armin Linke. It interrogates photography as a form of information technology that has never been so relevant, and its inherent mechanism: transforming the visible world into a visual archive that can be exploited. The exhibition goes beyond the observation that new technologies are taking over nowadays and algorithms are manufacturing what we see, to address essential and rarely asked questions: What technologies and infrastructures are necessary to manage and process ever-growing quantities of images? How can the economic value of an image be defined, measured and discussed?
