Clara Rivault: La tresse des araignées
Rivault’s exhibition at Les filles du calvaire, explores femininity as a resilient, regenerative force. Drawing on ecofeminism, mythology, and personal narratives, Rivault presents works where fragility and strength, destruction and rebirth, coexist. Organic materials such as glass, wool, wood, and metal are combined in sculptures and stained-glass pieces that suggest wounds and healing, resistance and renewal. References to mythology and literature intertwine with family stories and naturalist observations, creating works that evoke fertility, transformation, and memory. Stained glass, fragmented and recomposed, carries traces of dislocation, while the sculptural series Les épingles reimagines hat pins as protective hybrid objects. Other pieces—Les larmes du ciel and Les Ophis—extend these themes, combining recycled glass and wool to explore cycles of life, mourning, and transmission. Rivault’s practice reflects on the interconnectedness of humanity and nature, celebrating collective resilience and the sacred power of the living.
