Claude Cahun / Marcel Moore
Alberta Pane Gallery proudly presents its first solo exhibition dedicated to Claude Cahun at its Paris venue. Coinciding with the Paris Surréaliste programme and the Centre Pompidou’s “Surrealism” exhibition (Sep 4, 2024 – Jan 13, 2025), the display features a selection of Cahun’s photographs and books. Claude Cahun (born Lucy Schwob), together with their partner Marcel Moore (born Suzanne Malherbe), pioneered early discussions on gender and identity. Their work spans photography, writing, sculpture, and theatre, pushing boundaries on societal norms. Their politically charged, androgynous imagery and collaborative creative process continue to challenge conventions, making this exhibition both historically important and relevant to contemporary issues.
