Cristina BanBan: Lorquianas
In October 2025, Perrotin Paris presents “Lorquianas”, Cristina BanBan’s first institutional project in France following its debut at the Museum of Fine Arts, Palace of Charles V, Granada. Developed in dialogue with the Fundación MEDIANOCHE0 and the Centro Federico García Lorca, the exhibition reflects BanBan’s research into the poet’s life and oeuvre. Known for her bold depictions of the female form, BanBan transforms Lorca’s archetypes, symbols and characters—women both real and imagined—into dynamic compositions of large-scale paintings and drawings. Figures oscillate between figuration and gestural abstraction, embodying themes of fate, identity, and intergenerational experience. By reclaiming the term Lorquianas in its feminine and plural form, BanBan highlights the central role of women in Lorca’s work while expanding them into her own distinctive painterly universe. The Paris iteration will bring together works from Granada alongside new pieces created for this occasion.
