De l’effacement de la figure humaine
For its latest exhibition in Romainville, following nearly six years of activity at Komunuma, the gallery explores the theme of the erasure of the human figure. Engaging in dialogue with artists Djabril Boukhenaïssi, Raphaël Denis, Gabriel Leger, and Éric Manigaud, the exhibition also introduces two emerging talents: Alessandro Di Lorenzo, recently discovered at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, and Thien-Ngoc Ngo-Rioufol, identified through DOC, an artistic production space in Paris’s 19th arrondissement.
Supported by long-time collaborator Chris Cyrille-Isaac—art critic, poet, and exhibition storyteller—the gallery also invites the participation of visual artist Kelly Sinnapah Mary, following a studio visit in Guadeloupe during a research trip last winter.
Further contributions come from colleagues who inaugurated the KOMUNUMA site in 2019, with works by Bruno Pélassy and Lawrence Weiner (Air de Paris), Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil (Fabienne Leclerc – In Situ), and Eugène Carrière (Jocelyn Wolff).
By engaging with the erasure of the human figure, the exhibition confronts profound questions of time, memory, identity, and the fragile boundaries of humanism within contemporary art and society.
Group exhibition featuring Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil, Djabril Boukhenaïssi, Raphaël Denis, Alessandro Di Lorenzo, Gabriel Leger, Éric Manigaud, Bruno Pélassy, and Kelly Sinnapah Mary.
