De Toi à Moi

The exhibition gathers works by ten different artists of diverse and often pluralistic practices, who associate drawing to painting and collage, sculpture and assemblage, video and sound installations, films, performances, in-situ interventions, writing and editing. It features works by Elsa Werth, Liv Schulman, Sara Sadik, Myriam Mihindou, Randa Maroufi, Tirdad Hashemi et Soufia Erfanian, Neila Czermak Ichti, Mégane Brauer and Bianca Bondi.

The strength of their plastic languages and the eloquence of their individual and collective engagement is what bonds them. However, it would be misguided to gather these singular universes under a single headline. Nevertheless, various intersecting themes feed their practices, resonate with each other, answer and observe one another.

The title “De Toi à Moi” translates, in a very candid fashion, this notion of sharing and transmission. Similarly, it raises the idea of an original social purpose of the artwork; its place within the world being only found once it is passed on from the artist to its public, which ensues the solitary act of creation.
