Didier William: Lot Bo D’lo A (The Other Side of the Water)

For his first exhibition in France, Didier William presents a new body of paintings and sculptures exploring migration, memory, landscape, and the body. The Haitian Creole expression Lot Bò Dlo, literally meaning “the other side of the water,” informs the reflection at the heart of the exhibition: it evokes emigration, diaspora, distance, and loss, as well as the connections that unite places and generations. Through hybrid landscapes that bring together Haiti, the United States, and autobiographical fragments, William transforms the land into a living space, carrying memory and history. His works explore displacement, belonging, and the multiple ways in which we experience the idea of home.
