Drinks By: The Beer, Wine & Other Alcohol Art Archive

Since 1999, Matthieu Laurette and Drinks By: The Beer, Wine & Other Alcohol Art Archive have been assembling the first extensive “collection” of bottles and cans of alcoholic beverages conceived and designed by modern and contemporary artists from the 20th century to the present day. Our goal is not to collect unique pieces but to have one example of each of these special edition bottles and cans.

This ongoing collection was initially exhibited at the Museum Wiesbaden (Germany) during the Camo Show exhibition (May 6 – July 1, 2001). It was subsequently displayed at Cimaise et Portique, Centre Départemental d’Art Contemporain, Albi (France) for the exhibition “Life Ahead of You” (June 29 – November 4, 2002), at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London (UK) as part of the “Publicness” exhibition (January 29 – March 16, 2003), and at the Musée International des Arts Modestes-MIAM, Sète (France) during the “Miam Miam Glou Glou” exhibition (October 30, 2003 – January 15, 2004).

Drinks By: The Beer, Wine & Other Alcohol Art Archive is returning for a new public exhibition at MAC VAL – Musée d’Art Contemporain du Val-de-Marne, Vitry-sur-Seine, from October 20, 2023, to March 3, 2024, before being hosted in other international museums and institutions in the years to come.
