Elmgreen & Dragset: L’Addition

The Scandinavian artists Elmgreen & Dragset, have been invited to place their poetic sculptures in dialogue with the iconic sculpture nave of the Musée d’Orsay.

Their exhibitions always occupy the intersection of performance, space, and sculpture. The presentation they have created specifically for the Musée d’Orsay transforms visitors’ perspectives, inviting them to explore a museum turned upside down.

The artists have conceived a radical architectural intervention titled “L’Addition”, which bears no resemblance to what the museum has previously shown. While questioning the modes of exhibiting artworks, the duo will present a series of new figurative sculptures. These works will address various topics related to contemporary masculinities in a close dialogue with the museum’s permanent collection, highlighting nuances, similarities, and differences.
