Fabienne Verdier: Retables

Verdier presents a body of recent work across two newly expanded spaces in Paris. The exhibition includes 16 altarpieces and 5 large-format “walking paintings” alongside new silkscreen prints. Verdier, deeply influenced by her exploration of Mathias Grünewald’s Isenheim Altarpiece, adapts the altarpiece’s format, using a central panel with two movable sides to intensify her dynamic brushstrokes. The vibrant and contrasting colors of these works invite viewers into an immersive experience, evoking a powerful, tactile energy. Verdier’s work is featured in major collections, including the Centre Pompidou and the Nasjonalmuseet.
