From Line to Matter

Mitterrand presents “From Line to Matter” 12 September–20 December 2025, a group exhibition examining American Minimal and Post-Minimal art. Bringing together key figures—including Josef Albers, Carl Andre, Donald Judd, Sol LeWitt, Robert Mangold, Allan McCollum, Robert Morris, Kenneth Noland, Richard Nonas, Fred Sandback, Keith Sonnier, and Lawrence Weiner—the show explores the fundamental principles of these movements: formal reduction, raw materiality, repetition, and the relationship between artwork, space, and the body. From Andre’s horizontal structures and Sandback’s taut lines to Sonnier’s neon installations and McCollum’s modular compositions, the exhibition reveals how simplicity becomes a strategy of perception, emphasising the density and presence of line, matter, and spatial experience over ornament or narrative.
