Katinka Bock: Commotion in Higienópolis

Lafayette Anticipations – Fondation d’entreprise Galeries Lafayette presents a major exhibition by Berlin-born and Paris based artist Katinka Bock. The main piece of the exhibition is the monumental installation “Rauschen”, suspended in the middle of the building and which assembles several registers of absence. I

It is a monumental sculpture covered with copper plates brought back from Hanover, the result of a recurrent experimental practice in Katinka Bock’s work, which consists of wrapping an object in a fresh clay sheet and putting it all in an oven. The work is the result of her investigations of different places, their physical and material conditions as well as their historical, social and political charge.
