Katinka Bock: High and Dry
Fondation Le Corbusier presents "High and Dry", an exhibition by Katinka Bock at Maison La Roche, bringing together sculptures and photographs that explore the relationships between bodies, materials, nature and the spaces they inhabit.
Throughout the house, familiar objects and organic forms appear transformed. Spoons, combs, radiators and needles shift in scale, hovering between the everyday, the archaic and the technological. Glass fish, branches, shells and other elements evoke a world in which the boundaries between human, non-human and natural forms become fluid. Her photographic works, including Some of Any Fleeting, similarly capture intimate encounters between children, loved ones and the surrounding world, suggesting a primordial state in which distinctions between self and other have yet to take shape.
In "High and Dry", Bock unsettles the architecture of Maison La Roche, allowing its domestic spaces and functions to drift into unfamiliar territory. The title, drawn from a maritime expression describing a vessel left stranded as the waters recede, evokes a sense of displacement and suspension. Bock’s works inhabit this threshold, transforming the house into a porous environment where memory, matter and time remain in constant flux.
