Kim Guiline

Kim Guiline worked on objectifying the flat surface of a painting, and this focus on flatness continued throughout his entire career. In the 1960s, his works concentrated purely on black and white and their respective absorption and emissivity of light. In the 1970s, he began to compose smaller squares within square canvases to deepen his monochrome paintings. Later in his career, Kim identified the dualistic relationship of using bright primary colours and dots as basic units.
