La Fugitive
"La Fugitive" is the title of the new group exhibition presented by Le Crédac, Centre d'art contemporain d'Ivry.
“La Fugitive” is the title that Marcel Proust originally gave to the sixth volume of “In Search of Lost Time”. The exhibition is constructed as a journey from the domestic space of the young Albertine to the real and fantastic environments that are hidden from the narrator’s view in the book. Albertine has an assertive character but remains constantly uncertain, except for the fact that she loves women. This “sensuality”, first sensed and then confirmed, haunts the narrator throughout the story. The artistic practices presented in “La Fugitive” question a visual culture inherited from the male gaze. They participate in shedding light on the history of queer people and thus propose a polysemic reading of things and the world.
