Lea Colombo: A Downwards Evolution

Opening in Paris at 3537, Lea’s solo show is bursting with energetic new work. The exhibition was inspired by Lea’s awareness that we are moving into an age of illumination, where the old ways are making way for the new.

The exhibition examines Lea Colombo’s primal connection with her own creative consciousness. She does this through an explosive new approach to colour, shape, sound and earth energy. Her ultimate goal being to show that “we are all connected, that we are all consciousness.”

Lea’s new work is rich and layered, representing connection, potential and transformation. “A Downwards Evolution” showcases a vibrant revival of symbolism, bio-geometry and energetic frequency. 7 life-sized abstract self-portraits take form as 7 unique dark room prints, depicting a range colour of frequencies reflecting our 7 energy centers or “rays”. Different aspects of truth can be seen through these 7 rays, each ray seeing things differently. Stone sculptures, such as a suspended rose quartz pendulum, arise from a desire to channel healing and grounding between the universe and the earth, bringing a deeper resonance of connecting to healing, love and earth energy.

Lea’s South African heritage is explored through the honouring of spiritual guides. Images of South African Sangoma’s (traditional healers) reinforce the power of ancestral callings, whilst celebrating the rich legacy of this sacred practice. Lea says ‘the work I’ve created in Africa – where I’m from – is a clear portrayal of higher consciousness and ancient information – but also a portrayal of people in their element and in touch with their instincts.’
