Léo Fourdrinier: Poems Hide Theorems
Curator: Gaël Charbau
Artist: Léo Fourdrinier
Inspired by Gaston Bachelard’s The Psychoanalysis of Fire, Léo Fourdrinier’s exhibition explores the interplay between poetic creation and scientific innovation. Bachelard emphasized how poetry and science nourish each other, with his phrase “Poems hide theorems” suggesting that poetry can metaphorically express truths, whether philosophical, psychological, or scientific. For Fourdrinier, this complementarity helps describe the world around us. Poetry on celestial movements can reveal an intuitive understanding of astronomy, just as poems on human relationships offer insights into social psychology. Fourdrinier revisits universal symbols to shed light on contemporary realities. Born in 1992, he has exhibited widely, including at the 16th Lyon Biennale and CACN Nîmes, and is currently working on Les historiens du futur, an archaeological residency project. His work blends past mythologies with future discoveries, reflecting on the duality of science and imagination.
