Madeleine Roger-Lacan
Jousse Entreprise presents the first solo exhibition of Madeleine Roger-Lacan, bringing together a new corpus of paintings and works on paper that explore desire and solitude. Born in Paris in 1993, Roger-Lacan lives and works in the city. She studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris and the Slade School of Fine Art in London.
Her figurative practice plays with the materiality of the canvas, drawing from abstract and sculptural vocabularies of modern and contemporary painting. Narrative, fantasy and imagination, set against a background of popular culture, form the poetic universe she constructs.
Roger-Lacan’s work has been shown in France and internationally. In 2018 she participated in the 25th Watermill Center Summer Benefit & Auction in New York, followed by the 64th Salon de Montrouge in 2019. In 2022 her work was exhibited at the Kunsthalle Leipzig, the MUCEM in Marseille and the Fondation Pernod Ricard in Paris. More recently she has taken part in group shows at the Centre Pompidou-Metz. Her work is held in the Modern Forms collection, London.
This exhibition marks a significant step in her career, offering audiences an in-depth encounter with an emerging painter whose practice weaves figuration with abstraction and creates fragile, imaginative narratives.
