Osama Al Rayyan

Osama Al Rayyan, born in 1995 in Damascus, Syria, lives and works in Basel. His artistic practice develops through an open approach that brings together personal memories and references to art history. Rather than defining his work through a specific theory or interpretation, Al Rayyan focuses on experimentation.

His paintings use layers of thinly applied colour, with subtle contrasts between shades of orange, yellow and green. Silhouettes and landscapes emerge from the surfaces, often with indistinct contours. Through this approach, Al Rayyan explores the relationship between colour, form and perception, allowing space for different visual readings and discoveries.
