Pomodoro & Sottsass. A Friendship Seen by Ugo Mulas
On the occasion of the centenary of Arnaldo Pomodoro’s birth, Tornabuoni Art presents an exhibition bringing together works by Pomodoro and Ettore Sottsass, alongside photographs by Ugo Mulas. The exhibition explores the relationship between the three figures and their involvement in Milan’s post-war art scene. Bronzes, enamels, ceramics and archival photographs trace their exchanges across sculpture, design and photography.
The exhibition brings together ten bronze works by Pomodoro, spanning five decades of his career, with ten works by Sottsass, including three Totems from the second half of the 1960s. These were among the designer’s early objects conceived without a specific function.
The works are accompanied by archival photographs, including some previously unpublished images, showing the artists and their works in studios, at Olivetti, where Sottsass worked for many years, and in public and private spaces in Italy during the 1960s and 1970s.
