Que veut la vie quand tu chutes

Galerie Florence Loewy presents a double exhibition by artists David Posth-Kohler and Manoela Prates.
David Posth-Kohler has long repurposed iconic consumer objects of globalisation (backpacks, trainers, mobile phones) to reshape them using local craftsmanship encountered during his many travels: letter painting and aluminium casting in Cuba, wood carving and leatherwork in Senegal… The technical autonomy he discovers there encourages him to “be his own little industry”.
Manoela Prates invokes the notion of “gambiarra” in her work, which in Brazilian means: an act of adjustment, improvisation, or transformation to find a solution to a problem. The drawings of Manoela Prates thus float between collage and painting, between the remnants of a childhood steeped in Brazilian culture and a visual imagination that she absorbs from reality.
