Ronan Bouroullec: Constellation

Kreo, 31, Rue Dauphine, 75006

The exhibition, curated by Martin Bethenod, introduces a new series of light compositions in blown glass and anodised aluminium. Each piece combines a white opaline globe that diffuses light with a transparent glass corolla in grey or amber, filtering or reflecting it depending on the angle. These units are linked by anodised aluminium rods in black or grey, creating precise structures that recall the craft of watchmaking.

The works are presented in groups of varying scale — from three to twenty lights — arranged in vertical lines, circles, or grids. While their form echoes historical references in lighting design, the series looks instead to the language of Minimal Art. The repetition and variation of modules allow for endless configurations, adapting to and transforming the spaces they occupy.

Light is experienced here in multiple ways: diffused, filtered, reflected, or projected. Depending on orientation, the same structure may suggest mystery and suspension or create a play of circles and halos. The precision of materials, the balance of elements, and the interplay of light and shadow make each composition both delicate and striking.

With this series, Ronan Bouroullec continues his long-standing exploration of light, shifting between functional design and abstraction. His approach avoids the clichés of minimalism, emphasising instead subtlety, refinement, and sensitivity. The works create an environment where perception itself becomes the focus, drawing attention to how light alters our awareness of space.
