Rose Lowder: The Source of the Loire and Other Films

Palais de Tokyo, 13 Av. du Président Wilson, 75116 Paris, France

This exhibition offers an immersive experience of recent work by filmmaker Rose Lowder, foregrounding her approach to the perception of nature, as well as the distinctive methodology and working process she has developed continuously since the 1970s. Rarely presented in exhibitions until now, Lowder’s films constitute a unique long-term investigation into visual perception, shaped by the rapid interweaving of images and close observation of nature through the lens of a 16mm camera, used in sites of exceptional biodiversity.

Shot on Mont Gerbier de Jonc, La Source de la Loire (2019–2021) forms the centrepiece of the exhibition. It is accompanied by two ‘bouquets’ comprising twenty one-minute films shot on organic farms, most of them located in southern France, near the artist’s home.
