Santiago de Paoli: Riding hot
For his second exhibition with the gallery, Galerie Jocelyn Wolff presents "Riding Hot", a solo exhibition by Santiago de Paoli.
This enigmatic and surreal title is borrowed from a series of paintings made using a range of unconventional materials, including wood, copper, cork stoppers, dried leaves and peanuts. Santiago de Paoli continues his pictorial investigation into images that seem to emerge from dreams or fragmented memories, populated by moons, landscapes, bodies, domestic objects and organic forms. Oscillating between nature, magic and abstraction, these elements are permeated by a constant tension between humour, poetry and strangeness.
"Riding Hot" brings together a new body of monumental works presented for the first time. The exhibition marks a new stage in the artist’s practice, in which the materiality of the works becomes an increasingly open field of experimentation.
