Sugimoto Versailles

Place d'Armes

Japanese artist Hiroshi Sugimoto displays his works ranging between art, architecture and performance in the environment of the Chateau de Versailles. The artists’ installations are set up in the gardens of the Estate of Trianon, through the several spaces which compose it, namely the Petit Trianon, Flat Pool, Belvedere, Queen’s Theater, French Pavilion and the Garden Room. His works are inspired by the great personalities who lived in this place such as Louis XV or Marie-Antoinette, proposing a different view on historical events. Sugimoto merges elements from Eastern and Western cultures, investigating the nature of time and perception.

The exhibition is the eleventh in the series of contemporary art shows hosted within the estate of the Chateau de Versailles and dedicated to French and foreign artists.
