Talia Chetrit: Gut
10 Corso Como presents Gut, a major exhibition of Talia Chetrit’s work (b. 1982, Washington, DC), curated by Alessandro Rabottini and Anna Castelli, as part of the Milanese concept store’s ongoing series on the intersection of art, photography, and fashion.
The exhibition, covering the years 1994 to 2023, showcases Chetrit’s photographic exploration of self-representation, sexuality, and power dynamics. Her work spans self-portraits, family scenes, street photography, and still lifes, combining emotional depth with sharp composition. Highlights include early photographs of her childhood friends, where the subjects imitate fashion and media imagery, as well as later self-portraits that humorously and provocatively challenge notions of female identity.
Chetrit’s art also dissects family dynamics and explores voyeurism in her urban street photography. Still lifes in the exhibition add another layer of psychological tension, with everyday objects evoking themes of love, conflict, and parenthood.
Through Gut, Chetrit invites viewers to reflect on human relationships and how they are shaped through visual representation.
