Trafic – Tribute to Peter Stämpfli
Peter Stämpfli developed an interest in everyday objects, particularly the car. His work gradually focused on specific details, including the radiator grille, the fender and, ultimately, the tyre and its tread.
The exhibition "Trafic" brings Stämpfli’s work into dialogue with that of other artists, exploring the circulation of images and references across different practices. Works by Stämpfli are presented alongside those of Villeglé, Daniel Spoerri, Eulàlia Grau and Peter Halley, among others. The exhibition includes paintings, collages, drawings, prints and sculptures spanning several decades.
Stämpfli died in February 2026. The exhibition had originally been planned for the following year, in collaboration with the Peter Stämpfli Foundation in Sitges, Spain, to mark his 90th birthday. "Trafic" instead brings together his work with that of artists from different generations and contexts, highlighting the recurring presence of his imagery and approach.
