Victorien Sardou: Spiritisme

Victorien Sardou was born in Paris. After abandoning his medical studies due to financial constraints, he began teaching to make a living. During this time, he also wrote his first plays. Following a difficult start as a playwright, he achieved notable successes. Following the rejection of a work in 1857, Sardou became deeply involved in spiritualism. He created several drawings and engravings using an automatic process, claiming to be guided by the spirit of Bernard Palissy, the protagonist of the play bearing his name.
