Yohan Hàn: Shifting
“Shifting” is the second solo exhibition in France by French-Korean artist Yohan Hàn. The project stems from his ongoing exploration of how the body and artworks are perceived in a reality shaped by communication networks. It asks what becomes of the senses—especially touch—at a time when distance is increasingly experienced digitally.
The exhibition space is transformed into an environment where the material presence of the body is absent, leaving only traces of its passage. The project reflects on the transition of objects and ideas through dematerialisation, the memory of forms and the passage between physical and digital worlds.
A key element is the presentation of bronze sculptures created by Hàn’s father. Once anchored in strong materiality, they are reconfigured within digital contexts, highlighting how objects migrate and acquire new resonance.
The first room presents two large skin sculptures laid on the floor, evoking the body through its surface. The second room features digital screens with blue backgrounds, assembled to form a plinth. On this illuminated base rest the bronze works of the artist’s father, juxtaposing permanence and digital flux.
The exhibition thus explores the migration of works and their historical resonance, inviting viewers to reflect on absence, memory and transformation across media.
