Jorge Jácome: A Thing from Another World
With a multidisciplinary and empirical approach, Jorge Jácome (Viana do Castelo, 1988) explores the relationships between utopia, melancholy, disappearance, and desire in works that blur the line between documentary and fiction. His practice is marked by unexpected connections and a sense of introspection and fantasy. As a creator of fictional projects, Jácome explores new ways to represent reality, viewing cinema as a means of making visible what otherwise remains inaccessible.
“Uma Coisa do Outro Mundo” (“A Thing from Another World”) is his first solo exhibition in an institutional museum setting. It features a series of video installations created over the past year, along with a parallel programme. In the coming months, Serralves Auditorium will host a film series dedicated to his key cinematic works.
The exhibition “Jorge Jácome: Uma Coisa do Outro Mundo” is produced by the Serralves Foundation – Museum of Contemporary Art, Porto, in close collaboration with the artist and curated by Filipa Loureiro.
