Chiharu Shiota: The Unsettled Soul
Kunsthalle Praha presents “The Unsettled Soul”, the first Czech exhibition by renowned Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota. Shiota’s immersive thread installations explore themes of life, death, and memory, transforming two gallery spaces. Inspired by Prague’s Vltava River – Czechia’s largest river – the works reflect on human connections and shared histories.
Chief curator Christelle Havranek highlights Shiota’s emotional and intellectual impact, with previous exhibitions in major venues like the Venice Biennale and Gropius Bau. “The Unsettled Soul” features four key installations, including “Crossing Paths with Fate”, inspired by the Vltava, and “The Heart in Your Home”, exploring cultural and family ties.
The exhibition also covers Shiota’s career development, with films and archives.
