The exhibition at the Galerie Zdeněk Sklenář unveils contemporary Chinese artist Wang Guangyi‘s works. Among the leaders of the new art movement born on the Chinese scene after 1989, the artist worked on a series of paintings named “Great Criticism”, now among the best-known phenomena of contemporary Chinese art. Here, he combines Chinese and Western symbols. Convinced that political and commercial propaganda are forms of brainwashing, he stopped working on the series in 2007, fearing that success could compromise the original meaning of the paintings.
During the exhibition, a publication by Petr Volf, telling of the creation of these unique prints, will also be presented.
