Jacopo Benassi: Vuoto
The first monographic museum exhibition by the photographer from La Spezia
Centro per l’arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci di Prato hosts the exhibition “Vuoto” (Void), by the Italian photographer Jacopo Benassi, celebrating his 25-year career. A recreation of his studio occupies the rooms of the museum, alongside some of his most significant series and works. The photographer from La Spezia has documented the underground environment of his city since the 80s. Portraits of international personalities of the cultural and musical scene are on view, alongside models, actors, artists and fashion designers’ ones, already published on the most important Italian magazines.
On view also never-before-seen pictures related to the publishing field and some of Benassi’s well-known self-portraits.
Outside the museum’s doors, the project “Belt” also celebrates Benassi’s work, from August 31st. A series of pictures of the people, places and activities of Prato’s textile district are spread on the city’s walls as big advertising posters. The initiative responds to the museum’s will to defy its architectural borders and to enter in direct contact with the urban community.
