Chris Von Steiner: Obscuro Objeto: Desejo

In his first solo show in Brazil, Chris Von Steiner (b. 1965, France) presents 40 works, including digital drawings and paintings, produced between 2003 and 2014. The works are within the thematic of queer art – an artistic movement that has been gaining strength since the 1980s in the USA and Europe. He approaches issues related to sexual identity, erotic art and its connections to pop and context art.

Pandas, rabbits and characters from pop culture, like The Mad Hatter and Peter Pan, permeate Von Steiner’s imaginary. In Obscuro Objeto: Desejo [Obscure Object: Desire], the visitor can get in contact with a comprehensive selection of his production and observe the development of his artistic vocabulary. The project also comprises the publication of a bilingual catalogue.
