Evandro Teixeira: A Constituição do Mundo
The show presents with more than 150 images the trajectory of almost 60 years of career of Evandro Teixeira (b. 1935, Irajuba, Brazil), one of the most important photojournalists in Brazil.
Several aspects of the life in the city, from the beach and the music to the manifestations against the military dictatorship, were portrayed by Teixeira, who also has created visual essays about Canudos (Bahia), indigenous issues, the death of Neruda and Chilean politics.
The photographer has worked for almost five decades at the Jornal do Brasil, one of the most relevant newspapers of the country. The show, curated by Paulo Herkenhoff, shows his restless search for the exact moment of the news, which he captured with critical eyes, giving room for interpretations, points of view and narratives that explore and exceed the circumstances of the journalistic photography, taking his work to a political level.
Evandro Teixeira: A Constituição do Mundo [Evandro Teixeira: The Constitution of the World] is part of a series of exhibitions about the importance of photojournalism, along shows by Kurt Klagsbrunn and the newspaper O Globo. The series will be completed with exhibits about the magazines O Cruzeiro and Manchete.
