Gazua #947

Gazua is a word to designate a tool that opens locks and padlocks. Now, Gazua also designates a platform for artists and people involved in other fields of creative production with the goal to promote fast access to exhibitions and unconventional spaces in Rio de Janeiro, and to facilitate the development of a varied range of projects.

The artists that compose Gazua – Andrew de Freitas (b. 1986, Auckland, New Zealand), the collective Opavivará! (since 2005, Rio de Janeiro) and Ricardo Càstro (b. 1972, São Roque, Brazil) – have studios at Largo das Artes, a space that works as basis for elaboration and realization of proposals. The exhibition #947 marks the inauguration of the project.
