The exhibition “Renata Tassinari” brings together 15 paintings by Renata Tassinari, in a solo show at Paço Imperial, opening on December 17th. Known by daring experiments on the picture plane, Ms. Tassinari now presents works dated from 2005 to 2015. The artist paints over an acrylic surface and explores square and rectangle shapes of diferent colors. The presence of paint, the acrylic transparence or the wood’s opacity add expressivity and materiality to her paiting.
Renata Tassinari challenges and transforms the limits of the picture plane, the appropriation and displacement of industrial materials from the display surface, which shall not serve more traditional concepts of art making. The structure of his work is processed by the plurality of trials and reaffirms unmatched today in the context of contemporary Brazilian art, creating visual counterpoints by the presence of a geometric ordering, occupied by a rhythmic game of chromatic fields, interspersed by the agency of other media, such as acrylic and wood that orchestrate vibrant and intense color contrasts.
