To See and To Be Seen

“Ver e ser Visto” approaches the relations between art and psychoanalysis through around seventy works pertaining to the collection of MAM RJ.

Curated by Guilherme Gutman, the show has its origins in the homonym course held in the Museum between September and October 2014. The show is guided by the idea that all works of art are created around the void: “”all aesthetic experience makes reference to the lost object and, therefore, incessantly sought by each of us””, says Gutman.

The exhibition comprehends works in different techniques and media, as painting, drawing, sculpture and installation, from around sixty Brazilian and international artists. It’s divided in four modules: From the emptiness to the thing; Be seen; Reunion; and Unveiling.
