Paolo Pellegrin: Un’Antologia
Museum MAXXI devotes a major exhibition to The Italian photographer Paolo Pellegrin, curated by Germano Celant. “Paolo Pellegrin. Un’Antologia” is the result of a two-year work of research on photographer’s archives, which have produced the selection on view, featuring more than 150 images and some videos that span his career from 1998 to 2017. The pictures exhibited, some of which never shown before, highlight the central themes of the visual practice of Pellegrin, who has been awarded several times for his photographic work, documenting people, wars and humanitarian emergencies, and combining reporter’s objective look and visual intensity.
The pictures are organised in two opposite sections, in which dark-coloured and dramatic scenes or bright natural landscapes prevail in turn. On view at MAXXI also a preview of the photographic project realised by the author at L’Aquila, portraying details of the still wounded city.
