Tony Cragg: Infinite forme e bellissime
The Museo Nazionale Romano presents Tony Cragg’s exhibition “Infinite forme e bellissime”, a major solo exhibition by the renowned British sculptor, curated by Sergio Risaliti and Stéphane Verger. Known for his surprising forms and experimental use of materials since the 1970s, Cragg is a leading figure in contemporary sculpture. The event is organised by BAM – Eventi d’Arte in collaboration with Municipio I Roma Centro and supported by Banca Ifis as part of its Ifis art programme.
Set within the historic spaces of the Terme di Diocleziano, the exhibition features eighteen medium- and large-scale sculptures created over the past two decades, in materials such as bronze, wood, travertine, fibreglass, and steel. These evocative and mysterious forms recall the mineral, vegetal, geological, and biological worlds, with visual allusions to sea waves, plant structures, and shells. The sculptures engage in a dialogue with the ancient setting of the Baths and extend into the surrounding city squares, creating a dynamic interaction between contemporary art, Rome’s ancient heritage, and everyday urban life.
