The exhibition features the 30 drawings of the series “Jean Harlow – A Zona: A Vida e a Morte” from 1967, done on paper with Chinese ink and gouache. Wesley was deeply impressed by a leaflet he found in the USA with various images of Jean Harlow, actress and Hollywood myth, who lead a double life attending undercover prostitution areas in San Diego, after her husband suicided. In one of these comings and goings, her car crashed into an abyss and she died, still very young. The series emphasize paradoxes that were inherent to both Wesley’s works and Harlow’s story: eroticism and tragedy, life and death.
