Anatomy of Political Melancholy
The group exhibition focuses on the state of contemporary politics, dominated by the interests that drive politicians on one side and the effects of this phenomena on citizens and their civil consciousness. The twelve artists featured in the collective exhibition Anatomy of Political Melancholy express different aspects of our current political discontent and disillusionment and explore its effects on different generations.
The works exhibited highlight the dangers of political apathy and underline the fact that there are still such things as society and community, trying to offer a picture of present condition and suggesting at the same time possible solutions for the future.
The exhibition is inspired by the text “Small Anatomy of Political Melancholy” by philosopher Lieven de Cauter, who defines this sense of disillusionment “political melancholy”.
