A Summer in Marianowo
The show A Summer in Marianowo results from an artist in residence program underwent by Danielle Noronha (b. 1979, São Paulo) and Mauricio Parra (b. 1976, São Paulo) in the city of Marianowo, northern Poland, last July.
Curated by Renato De Cara, the exhibition gathers watercolours and oil on linen paintings created during the residency, when they majorly studied the genre of landscape painting.
For the artists, the different location inspired the creation of new languages for their production and on-going researches. As Mauricio Parra states, “dealing with landscape, specially under a light that’s so different for us, since during the summer the day is longer in the northern hemisphere, always brings us, somehow, new questions and relations”. While he exhibits ten oil on linens of medium dimensions, Noronha displays a large watercolour and twenty small ones.
