The collective exhibition “África Revisitada” features works representative of contemporary African artistic scenery, offering visitors a small glimpse over this little explored panorama. In particular, works by four artists, all from different African countries, dialogue with each other: J. D. ‘Okhai Ojeikere and Leonce Raphael Agbodjelou present two series of photographies. The first portrays typical African hairstyles, exploring the shifts in local aesthetics, while the second captures members of the community of Porto Novo, namely his home town. Drawings by Nigerian Karo Akpokiere refer to the city of Lagos’ culture, inspired in their style by the graphic language of advertising. Finally, artist Nástio Mosquito presents a video installation, characterised by an hybrid language which merges music, poetry and visual arts.
