Alberto da Veiga Guignard: Guignard e o Oriente, entre o Rio e Minas

“Guignard e o Oriente, entre o Rio e Minas” presents works by Alberto da Veiga Guignard (1896 – 1962, Brasil) to create dialogues capable of highlighting a rich exchange between his production and Chinese iconography, a reference that is, in the show, crossed with Brazilian Baroque and the colonial aesthetics.

Curated by Paulo Herkenhoff, Priscila Freire and Marcelo Campos, the exhibition comprises 207 pieces (101 signed by Alberto da Veiga Guignard), among which we find paintings, drawings, objects, documents and engravings that draw attention to the relation between subjectivity, memory and history in Guignard’s production.
