Ana Sario
In his first solo exhibition at Galeria Marcelo Guarnieri (São Paulo), Ana Sario presents a series of paintings produced in recent months. With different scales, her paintings construct a panoramic view throughout the exhibition space and explore the landscape profiles. Seeking references in prosaic scenes – when looking at a lake, in the short flight of a duck, between the fence that separates the park – the images that emerge from the dense layers of paint represent elementary fragments of our daily lives. The brushstrokes are apparent and the brush strands create the dynamics of each image – horizontal, vertical, diagonal. It’s possible to recognize the path made by each displacement of the brush. In some paintings the artist uses a tool specific from the engraving universe – drypoint – to create incisions in the layers of paint and reveal the textures as well as part of the previous process done to the finished work.
