Arte Moderna na Coleção da Fundação Edson Queiroz
The show comprises a selection of 60 paintings and sculptures by great names of Brazilian first modern movements until Neo-Concrete art, such as Lasar Segall (1891, Lithuania – 1957, Brazil), Candido Portinari (1903 – 1962, Brazil), Emiliano Di Cavalcanti (1897 – 1976, Brazil), Alfredo Volpi (1896, Italy – 1988, Brazil), José Pancetti (1902 – 1958, Brazil) and Hélio Oiticica (1937 – 1980, Brazil).
Over the last 30 years, the Fundação Edson Queiroz, located in Fortaleza, has been constituting an important collection that includes artworks created between the 17th and the 21st centuries. The exhibition Arte Moderna na Coleção da Fundação Edson Queiroz [Modern Art in the Collection of the Fundação Edson Queiroz] establishes a dialogue with the long-term Arte no Brasil: Uma História do Modernismo, also on view at Estação Pinacoteca. Other than comprehending the same period, these exhibitions compares the eye and taste of two of the most noteworthy collectors in Brazilian modern art history: Edson Queiroz and the couple José and Paulina Nemirovsky.
