Bill Viola: Visões do Tempo (Visions of time)

Sesc, in collaboration with the Bill Viola Studio, organizes the solo show dedicated to the artist pioneer in contemporary video art and motion picture.

Bill Viola: Visões do Tempo features works from the last two decades, such as the Martyrs (2014), Transfigurations (2007/2008), projections such as the Inverted Birth installation (2014), and other productions from the 2000s, in which Viola investigates the cycles of life, death and rebirth. His pieces are often linked to the history of art and address subjects and concepts such as perception and spirituality. Also works from the beginning of artist’s career, from the 1970s to the mid-90s, are presented in monthly video programs in the auditorium of the unit.
