Clarissa Tossin

On the occasion of her solo show Tossin will show works from “Nova Gramática de Formas” [New Grammar of Forms] (2017), which are replicas of objects produced in the Free Trade Zone of Manaus in the Amazon region, castered in terra cota, material used to create utilitarian objects by a variety of indigenous communities. Also shown in the exhibition is the video “Ch’u Mayaa” (2017) wherein the artist responds to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hollyhock House, a prime example of the Mayan Revival Style. The choreography takes inspiration from the house’s architecture, as well as gestures and poses on ancient Maya ceramics and buildings.
