Cláudio Cruz: Efêmero Eterno
Efêmero Eterno [Eternal Ephemeral], the fifth exhibition of the New Photography program 2015, gathers images that articulate light, shadow and subjectivity as their main subject. Created by Cláudio Cruz (b. 1985, São Paulo), the black and white photos depict enigmatic and symbolic atmospheres that are hidden in everyday life.
This series began with Cruz’s obsession in photographing what can be at once real and unreal. At a time when we’re saturated with images, he searches for sensations and lights that some would consider “wrong”, originating pictures that require a slower and more attentive fruition.
MIS’ New Photography program was created in 2011 as a permanent exhibition space for promising photographers with innovative poetics or techniques. Every year, six series of images are chosen through an open call and exhibited at the museum.
